So.. Tess now has quite a few teeth - just realised we should probably get a dentist appointment in ... at what age are you supposed to do this? (please don't say 12 months) and if you know the answer to this how did you find out? I feel like I need some kind of ongoing parental training!

I asked my dentist, as I was having a check up when my little dude was about 3 months old. The answer, "as soon as they have a tooth, start taking them" . And as soon as they have a tooth start brushing them. I now schedule two appointments, back to back with the same dentist. I get checked, then my little guy gets checked. When he gets checked, I lay on the chair and he lays on me, simples.

No idea, but I need to know! I feel bad that this hadn't even crossed my mind. Struggling to get the boy to brush too, he's more of a sucker than a brusher!

haha - good I think we're about the same stage/kids age so that's reassuring - we're both bad parents 😀 as an aside - where's your profile photo and link to the Minibugs boutique 😜 (you can edit your profile by clicking your logo or name)

thanks @MamaWhite - I thought that was probably the case - 😱 - I need a reminder service for these things!! I go every 12 months to the dentist so hopefully me being overdue by a few months won't condemn Tess to a life of gumming her food.... (hopefully!)

Thank you Ben, I have updated my profile information & earned 13 Brain Points! I am strangely excited by this, even though I don't know what it means....

Haha! Points mean prizes Claire! (We're just working out what the prizes are!)

my parents are dentists and they told me as soon as they have teeth starting trying to get some fluoride on the teeth (as a young age just rub a bit of toothpaste on with your finger or a cloth and then brushing when older). i think the main reason to take little ones to the dentist is to get them used to sitting in the chair and then from around 2/3 YO they can come with you for an annual check up. I was really worrying about tooth brushing as my 2YO hates it and my parents put me at ease by saying its mainly about getting some fluoride on and not to stress TOO much about it so there we go! Mine have only had one check up but i'll take him annually from now on.
