#TantrumTuesday Question 1: Hello! Who is here for Tantrum Tuesday? Welcome! This is a live chat which has moved over from our closed Facebook group, to discuss all things - both silly and serious - about parenting. The first question is this: what is the best bedtime story of all time, and why?

We have a Bookstart book called A Quiet Night In by Jill Murphy. It has a nice blend of sarcasm, whilst still being a kids book. And in the end, both parents fall asleep reading a bedtime story. I like it.
Lisa Tantrum
My favourite bedtime story has got to be Peepo by Janet and Alan Alberg. It's short, sweet, it rhymes, and it ends with the baby asleep which is a useful segway to bed time. Oh, and my son loves it - but that's irrelevant, isn't it?

I was always partial to Nicobobinus. Was actually reading it to my nephew when he was staying here last year. Felt really nostalgic

I haven't heard of A Quiet Night, but love the idea of the parents falling asleep. I'm often doing that exact thing during the 17th rendition of 'That's Not My Hedgehog'.

I was just about to say Peepo - lots of layers. What does the dad do??? Why is he going out at night?

The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark. Because it's so comforting. And there are owls in it.
LewisCarr
Lisa, here's an Amazon link, but I'm sure we got it free as part of the Bookstart program: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Quiet-Night-Large-Family/dp/1844285278

My dad read lord of the rings to us - that always put us to sleep

@Benjy - Peepo sounds ominous. Is it about a soon-to-be-divorced couple where the dad's an alcoholic or something? This got dark quickly... Haven't read it I'm afraid... 😁
LewisCarr
Benjy, I worked at an American summer camp, and reading a book was a great way to wind down the evening, even for the 10 - 12 year olds. I read them Silence of the Lambs. :D

@LewisCarr - which is why you're the top response for now (screenshot while you can)
Ben Tantrum
@return35e - he's in the army and there's air raid blimps and bombed buildings as the backdrop to an otherwise sweet day in the life of a baby
Lisa Tantrum
@Benjy @rentrn35e The dad in Peepo in a soldier and he's been called up for Duty. Bet you feel bad now.
Ktharveytaylor
Lisa I agree! And Peepo is lovely, I like the war time feel to it

Next question on the Parenting Brain landing page in 3,..2...1...
rentrn35e
@Lisa Tantrum - Not at all! Sounded bad and that sounds much better! That's for clarifying. Suggestions for age of kid? Don't want to traumatise anyone...
LewisCarr
rentrn35e - I'm very pleased with that, I wonder voted for me???
