I'm about to take my 1yr old on her first flight and we'll need to give her some milk on the plane - how do people manage this? can you take a bottle through security?

Yes, most airports allow you to transport milk. Check with your arrival and departure airports for their guidelines, but in general you can take enough expressed milk, formula or cow's milk etc through security for the journey. They are likely to do an extra security check on it, and they may ask you to taste it. Of your baby is on formula, you can also look to see if the airport has an airside pharmacy from which to pre-order milk for the journey.
