Why won't my three year old go to bed before 10pm?

You poor thing. We dropped the nap and it was chaos for a month and he fell asleep in really odd places out and about (hilarious as well as annoying) and now we are back to 7-6 sleep. It's not as much as he needs but I'll take it!

That is quite late! Must be very frustrating. When do they take a nap? If they are napping too late in the afternoon, then it will impossible to get them to bed at a reasonable hour. Are they being active enough during the day, too?

She has a thirty minute nap at lunchtime - and then nothing else. She is at nursery all day - so busy....

Does she go to bed earlier but not fall asleep? Does she leave the bed and come to find you? There was a child-sleep-training expert on here not long ago discussing what to do in a similar situation. They talked about it here: https://tantrum.xyz/parentingBrain/question/15. I've seen them answer a couple of similar questions already so hopefully they'll see this one soon!

I'd ditch the nap. It might make things haywire for a while – expect lots of later afternoon meltdowns and falling asleep face-first in her dinner but if my three-year-old naps at all in the day she's still going strong at 10pm whereas when we avoid naps she's out cold by 7.30pm.
