A tasty smoothie recipe for your Nutribullet

The best orange and cacao smoothie recipe for your Nutribullet or NutriPro...

Blast away colds with this deceptively delicious recipe, which combines vitamin C, iron and fibre for a kick-ass start to the day.

Serves one


  • 1 orange (it helps to have the orange cold)
  • 1 large handful of spinach
  • 1 date
  • 150ml unsweetened almond milk
  • 50ml water
  • 1 dsp wheatbran or flaxseed
  • 1 dsp raw cacao powder
  • ½ scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • 1 drop organic orange essence (if you have time, you can substitute this for some shavings from the orange peel, but as this is a morning recipe…)


Chop the orange into quarters, then cut the flesh away from skin. Discard the skin. Put the orange flesh, spinach, date, almond milk and water into a Nutribullet or equivalent, and give it a good blitz. Add the wheatbran or flaxseed, cacao powder, protein powder and orange essence, give it a final blitz until the mixture is smooth, and serve.
